Dario Nardella was born in Torre del Greco on 20 November 1975. He holds a Degree in Law and a PhD in Public Law and Environmental Law from the University of Florence. Dario Nardella began working for the City Council of Florence in 2004.
In 2009, he was re-elected as Councilor. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2012 and in February 2014, he was appointed Deputy-Mayor. Prior to this, he was responsible for Economic Development and Sports as a member of Mayor Matteo Renzi’s cabinet.
Since 26 May 2014, Dario Nardella was elected the Mayor of Florence and on 1 January 2015 became the first Metropolitan Mayor of Florence. He was also elected as the President of Eurocities in November 2020. He holds a Degree in Law and a PhD in Public Law and Environmental Law from the University of Florence.
